Phnom Penh, Cambodia: January 21-22

A Coke can from Cambodia. So pretty! We weren't actually across the border yet, just waiting for the guides to get our papers in order.

Finally in Cambodia, yay!


I believe this is the Liberation Monument. In any case, Cambodian architecture is sort of like Thai architecture, and completely awesome:

The Seven-headed Serpent. Apparently it's a thing:

Part of the Royal Palace. There was a blue flag flying on one of the buildings, indicating that the king was on palace grounds that day. Cool!

Later, we visited the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21), a former elementary school where Pol Pot kept many people who defied his regime, and even Khmer Rouge party members he suspected of treason. This is a cell, formerly used for torture and isolation:
